John Heimbuch
Co-Artistic DirectorJohn is a Twin Cities native and a founding member of Walking Shadow where he's directed The Transdimensional Couriers Union, 36 Views, and Seventy Scenes of Halloween. His original plays include The Transdimensional Couriers Union, S. Gunter Klaus and the Story Before, SQUAWK, William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead, Or the White Whale, 10-Speed Revolution, and The Lives of the Most Notorious Highwaymen. His plays have been produced or developed by Walking Shadow Theatre Company, Hardcover Theater, Jon Ferguson Theater, Civic Stage, The Southern Theatre, Edina High School, West Valley High School (AK), Cleveland Shakespeare Festival (OH), Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (NY), Plays and Players Theatre (PA), Young Mirror Rep (NY), and the Midtown International Theatre Festival (NY). As a performer John has worked with Walking Shadow, Shakespeare in the Park, Off-Leash Area, Live Action Set, the Illusion Theater, Starting Gate Productions, and toured extensively with National Theatre for Children. John is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab (2007), Minnesota State University, Mankato (2001), and the Perpich Center for Arts Education (1996). He currently serves as the Twin Cities Regional Rep for the Dramatists Guild. He is also a songwriter and principal vocalist for the retro-futurist band Bad September.
