The Lives of the Most Notorious Highwaymen was created using the theatrical traditions of the early Georgian period and influenced by the many criminal broadsheets of that era.

This story is a fiction constructed for the pleasure of the audience from dozens of actual events.  Our highwaymen are not historical figures, but loosely based upon the Hawkins’ Gang who made their wealth by robbing stockjobbers in the summer of 1720 - at the height of the South Sea Company - before being caught on their way to Holland.
